The Academy of Finland and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland open a call for applications under the Academy Programme for Development Research (DEVELOP2). Development research describes and interprets dimensions of development, helps understand obstacles to development and finds ways in which those obstacles can be removed. In practical terms, the aim is to produce knowledge that can help solve problems related to, for example, health, natural resources, the economy and education. Research-based knowledge is also needed about how international, national and cultural systems work and about the limitations that these systems present to and the opportunities they offer for development.

At the core of the Academy of Finland’s activities is to provide funding for excellent scientific research. The research we fund is also expected to have high scientific and societal impact and follow the principles of responsible science.

Before you fill in your application in the online services (SARA), carefully read the call text and the funding terms and conditions. Also read the DEVELOP2 programme memorandum. If the call text, the funding terms and conditions or the memorandum conflict, the terms and conditions should always be considered primary.  If the translated English or Swedish version of the call text is in conflict with the Finnish call text, the Finnish version should always be considered primary.
