Research field classification
The Research Council of Finland’s research field classification is based on Statistics Finland’s classification of fields of science. The classification is used, for example, in compiling statistics on research funding and in organising the peer review of applications. The classification comprises 64 research fields divided into seven main categories. A research field may have a varying number of subcategories.
