  • Total funding budget no more than 2 million euros
  • Applicant is an individual research team or a consortium

The Academy of Finland is launching a supplementary call within the Academy Programme Radiation Detectors for Health, Safety and Security (RADDESS). The call is open to research teams engaged in international research cooperation. The funded teams are required to have established a high-quality and genuine collaborative relationship with a foreign research team. The call is designed to support Finnish researchers’ research cooperation with researchers from non-EU and non-Associated Countries (read more under Background and objectives below). A requirement in this call is that the Finnish site of research commits to the project to a greater degree than what is required in the Academy’s general commitment conditions.

Funding will be granted to projects researching device-driven and functional imaging methods based on radiation detection.  The areas of application may also involve areas other than health and safety (e.g. determining the authenticity of works of art). The full call text and the review criteria are available below.

PI of the project must be a researcher with a doctoral degree or at the professor or docent level. The funding can be applied for by both individual research teams and consortia composed of two or several research teams.

The call’s funding budget has been set at a maximum of 2 million euros. Each project (individual or consortium) may apply for no more than 500,000 euros in Academy funding.

Before you log in to the online services (SARA) to fill in the application, make sure to carefully read the call text below as well as the Read more section (top right), especially the terms and conditions. In the event of inconsistencies between the call text and the terms and conditions (general conditions and guidelines for use of the funding), the text contained in the terms and conditions takes precedence.

We recommend that applicants get in touch with the call’s contact person before they submit their application.
