Joint Programme – Neurodegerative Disease Research, JPND
The EU Joint Programming Initiative Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) aims to increase coordinated investment between European countries in research aimed at finding causes, developing cures and identifying appropriate ways to care for those with neurodegenerative diseases. The aim of the initiative is to strengthen the impact of research by increasing cooperation based on ongoing national programmes and by identifying common objectives that would benefit from joint actions. The JPND Research and Innovation Strategy outlines how European research could be utilised as effectively as possible in the prevention and diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases and in securing better care.
The Academy of Finland has been JPND partner since 2009. JPND launches annual calls for proposals. The Academy has funded 14 Finnish participants in 11 consortia with a total of 2.4 million euros. Read more about JPND calls and funded projects on the initiative’s website.
