Warmly welcome to Climate-Synergy: Impact & Methods -workshop:
Science for Policy: Navigating in a Complex World.

The climate crisis is the prime sustainability challenge of our time. It
increases the pressure to turn academic research into societal impact and influence policy-making – to couple topical scientific research with informed decision-making. Yet, science and policy can appear to be worlds apart with different language, timescales, and culture. How to tackle the gap, how to enhance the skills for making impact?

In the the workshop “Science for Policy: Navigating in a Complex World” Jaakko Kuosmanen from the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters will explore both theoretical and practical challenges, opportunities, and pathways relating to policy impact of academic research. (Lecture part from 10.00–11, both online and on site, Hakaniemenranta 6.)

During the second part of the workshop (from 11–12 on site only), we will take a closer look into practice of science for policy together and share experiences of both failures as well as successes in influencing policy-making, and learn to build connections in the science-policy interface.

Please note, there are limited number of places for the latter part of the workshop (to be held after a coffee break, on site only).

The workshop will be held in English, if there are any non-Finnish speaking participants present.
