Review of research infrastructure roadmap applications under way
The applications submitted to the Research Council of Finland’s roadmap call for national research infrastructures have progressed to the evaluation phase.
In September, an international review panel will assess the scientific relevance, versatile impact and operational maturity of the applicant research infrastructures. The Research Council’s scientific councils will also have their say on the applications. Applications with a rating of 5 and 6 will be invited to the second stage.
The research infrastructures to be invited to the second call stage will be decided by the Finnish Research Infrastructure Committee on 3 October. Successful applicants will then submit a second-stage application, but this does not yet mean they will be included in the roadmap. The second-stage call opens on 4 October and closes on 22 October at the earliest.
The FIRI Committee will select the roadmap research infrastructures, decide the funding of some of the development projects and select the lighthouse candidates to be invited for interview at its meeting on 2 December. The interviews are scheduled to take place on 16–17 January 2025. The FIRI Committee will make the lighthouse selections and decide the remaining funding for development projects on 27 January 2025.
