Academy of Finland deeply concerned about situation in Ukraine

The Academy of Finland is shocked by the violent attack on Ukraine. War brings only immeasurable destruction and human suffering. We condemn the Russian attack on Ukraine in the strongest possible terms.

Peaceful interaction between people and ideas is a cornerstone of science – it is an essential precondition for the existence of scientific research. Science is international. Researchers are on a mission to develop a better future for humankind and improve our shared wellbeing. The Russian attack on Ukraine will also destroy the ability of Ukraine’s scientists and researchers to fulfil their mission.

We are deeply concerned about the situation in Ukraine, and we encourage everyone to support the promotion of peace and help bring a swift end to this war by all means possible.
