RealSolar

Public description of the goals at the beginning of the project

RealSolar investigates strategies for maintaining stable and efficient power system with a large share of solar photovoltaic (PV) electricity production. Global PV production is increasing rapidly, and major increases in PV production are expected also in Finland. Increasing PV effectively to the Finnish power system reduces dependency on fossil fuels and electricity import. In Nordics, PV production profile can be significantly modified. PV has exceptional scalability, allowing cost-effective electricity production from household to utility level. RealSolar covers the scale from individual citizens to national level power system and RealSolar co-creates solutions for the just green transition. The aim is to make affordable PV electricity available across the whole society, regardless of the income level and housing type of individuals. RealSolar co-creates tools and new business models as well as supports policy making in green transition and reaching environmental goals.
