No decision yet on themes for strategic research programmes 2024

14 Nov 2023

The Government’s decision on the new themes for strategic research programmes has been delayed. The theme proposals put forward by the Strategic Research Council (SRC) this summer are still being discussed, which is why the SRC has not been able to open the programme calls with the same schedule as in previous years.

The SRC will publish the application guidelines as soon as possible after the Government has reached a decision. After the decision, there will be approximately two months reserved for the first call stage, which is the same amount of time as in previous years.

The Strategic Research Council is an independent body established within the Research Council of Finland that funds high-quality research with great societal relevance and impact. SRC-funded research seeks concrete solutions to grand challenges that require multidisciplinary approaches. An important element of the research is active and ongoing collaboration between knowledge producers and knowledge users.
