Research impact

Research-based knowledge influences society in many different ways, often subtly but profoundly. The impact of research is usually built over a long period of time.

The RCF promotes excellent research across all scientific disciplines. We provide expertise in the scientific and societal impact of research: We create preconditions for the impact of research data, develop practices for impact assessment and promote the utilisation of research data for the benefit of society as a whole.

Scientific research has different effects depending on the discipline, the objectives of the research and the research topic. Impact often arises in the long term through the interaction between science and society. The impact of research projects cannot be directly compared with each other, nor can it always be described with economic indicators. This page presents examples of how RCF-funded research benefits society.
