Organisation

The Research Council of Finland consists of three scientific councils, the Finnish Research Infrastructure Committee, the Strategic Research Council and the Administration Office.

General RCF policies and objectives are decided by the RCF Board, which also allocates research appropriations to the scientific councils and the Finnish Research Infrastructure Committee.

Administration Office

The Administration Office prepares and implements decisions made by the Board, the scientific councils, the Finnish Research Infrastructure Committee, the Strategic Research Council, subcommittees and the President, and makes the agreements resulting from the decisions.

The President heads the day-to-day work at the Administration Office. The management also includes three executive directors. The RCF has three units:

  • Operations Management Unit
  • Funding Opportunities Unit
  • Impact and Science Policy unit.

The approximately 130 officials at the Administration Office

  • see to the RCF’s administration
  • do all the necessary groundwork for official decision-making by the RCF Board and scientific councils, and execute the decisions
  • prepare science policy surveys and plans
  • participate in Finnish and international working groups.
