International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA): Young Scientists Summer Program 2026
The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) is an international, interdisciplinary research institute located in Laxenburg in Austria. The institute studies global problems that are either too widespread or too complex for a single country or scientific discipline to solve.
IIASA offers a summer programme for PhD students to undertake a scientific project on a topic related to the IIASA research agenda. The 2026 Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP) runs on-site in Austria from 1 June to 28 August 2026 and offers participants the opportunity to work on their own scientific projects. The YSSP hosts up to 50 doctoral candidates each year.
Applications for the YSSP are addressed to IIASA, which will select the candidates. The Research Council of Finland can support up to three doctoral candidates working at a Finnish site of research and selected to the YSSP by covering their travel and accommodation expenses in Austria.
