Academy Project Funding
In addition to the factors mentioned in the call text, the Scientific Council for Biosciences, Health and the Environment takes into account the following factors when deciding between applications of equal merit:
- career development of postdoctoral-level researchers or doctoral researchers working on the project, and support for their mobility in the project
- impact beyond academia as described in the application.
The Scientific Council primarily only funds projects where both the PI and the research team mainly work in Finland. If the PI works partly abroad, the application must clearly indicate their employment relationship and how their sufficient contact with the research team and their project management will be arranged.
Academy Research Fellowship

- international and national mobility that justifiably strengthens the applicant’s and the potentially recruited researchers’ scientific competence, career development and establishment of career-supporting cooperation networks
- impact beyond academia as described in the application.
