Sustainability as a core value
Research supported by the RCF paves the way toward a more sustainable future. Scientific knowledge is the best possible knowledge – it can be used as a basis for making wiser decisions.
Scientific research provides solutions to current challenges, facilitates anticipating and solving future problems, increases our understanding of the world, and offers hope that better solutions are possible. Thanks to research, we can not only create solutions to today’s problems, but also lay the groundwork for new initiatives, scientific breakthroughs and sustainable growth.
It is important for us to demonstrate our commitment and concrete actions to promote the Agenda 2030 action program to our stakeholders and the scientific community, and to encourage work towards sustainable development. One of the impact objectives stated in our strategy is that the Finnish scientific community is a pioneer of responsible science.
As a research funder, we incorporate sustainability goals and responsibility across all areas of our operations. The measures therefore concern both research funding and the RCF’s own activities as an agency. We monitor the implementation of the measures as part of our general reporting.
In the ‘Sustainable development’ section of our website, we explain how we promote responsibility and sustainability in our own operations and in relation to society.
