The Academy of Finland is set to open a call within a new Academy Programme with a view to promoting research collaboration and integration. The theme of the call concerns research using Finnish birth cohorts. In this programme, ‘birth cohort’ refers to a group of people born at a particular time or over a particular period of time. The term does not refer only to children nor to any cohorts where samples have been collected from birth.
The Academy Programme is intended to pilot a new programme concept. The call is not intended to provide funding for research projects like Academy Projects that are built around research hypotheses. Instead, funding will be awarded for integration between projects that already have basic research funding in place. The aim is to increase cooperation between different research partners and especially different levels of research, which through scientific regeneration will contribute to enhancing the impact of research in this thematic area.
