The Academy of Finland participates in the LEAP-Agri (Long-Term EU-Africa Research and Innovation Partnership on Food and Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture) ERA-NET Cofund. LEAP-Agri aims to open up opportunities for European and African research teams to join forces and combine expertise to respond to global challenges by means of research. The LEAP-Agri themes include food and nutrition security and sustainable agriculture. These themes have been identified as priority themes during the high-level policy dialogue process between the EU and Africa.
Launched in December 2016, LEAP-Agri is a partnership between 30 funding partners from nine African countries (Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Senegal, South Africa and Uganda) and nine European countries (Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Nederland, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Turkey). LEAP-Agri is coordinated by Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR), France. LEAP-Agri opened a call for preliminary proposals in March 2017. The call’s total budget is some 28 million euros.
