NOP-HS has commissioned a survey aimed at scholarly journals that have been identified as ‘Nordic journals’ within the Humanities and Social Sciences. The identification is based on available data in bibliometric databases and website data.
The survey is conducted for mapping and better understanding the operational landscape of Nordic journals. The results will be valuable for enhancing the available knowledge about journals. NOS-HS is interested in these items for developing its future agenda.
The data collected will be used as the basis for a report on Nordic scholarly journals that will be published openly on the NOS-HS website in the summer of 2021. Additionally, one scholarly journal article presenting the results in a summarised form will be published later. The journal article will be made available open access. The survey data will be offered to the Finnish Social Science Data Archive to be available as open data after removal of any potential personal information.
The project is being conducted by Associate Professor Mikael Laakso from Hanken School of Economics in Finland.
Should your journal receive the questionnaire, NOP-HS encourages you to reply by 14 April 2021, as this is a unique chance to give first-hand information of the circumstances when the landscape of publishing is in transition.
The Nordic Board for Periodicals in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NOP-HS) is an organisation set up to facilitate the cooperation of the Nordic research councils concerning Nordic scientific publishing and support to Nordic scientific journals within the fields of humanities and social sciences. It is a sub-committee to the NOS-HS.
