The Industrial Design targeted call brought together research from a broad spectrum of scientific disciplines, including the study of culture, social sciences, natural sciences as well as engineering. Research covered the whole system of industrial design, i.e. the practice of design, technological product development, materials research, marketing, consumption and the cultural impact of products. Given the programme's multidisciplinary premises, industrial design was examined using a wide range of different tools.
Funding The Academy of Finland allocated EUR 2 million to the programme.
