The paths of societal impact

A prerequisite for societal impact is that the new knowledge, technology, competence, understanding or perspectives produced by research are communicated outside the scientific community. The transmission of this information can be understood to take place through different paths:

  • dissemination of research results
  • interaction
  • competent people.

The paths of societal impact are linked to different fields and topics of research and to how knowledge and competence are utilised. Open science and its promotion are also crucial for the wider impact of science and research.
