Call: Joint Programming in Neurodegenerative Diseases

(10th Dec 2012)

The European Commission has launched a pilot initiative for the Joint Programming project in neurodegenerative diseases (incl. Alzheimer’s disease), Joint Programming on Neurodegenerative Diseases (JPND). In December 2012, JPND has launched a call for funding under the theme European research projects for the identification of genetic, epigenetic and environmental risk and protective factors for Neurodegenerative Diseases.

The Academy of Finland will fund Finnish projects that have been successful in the call. The Academy’s Research Council for Health has earmarked targeted Academy Project funding to 2–4 project for three years, totalling a maximum of EUR 800,000.

Joint Programming is one of the European Commission’s key initiatives to reinforce the European Research Area. The aim is to increase research collaboration and pool national resources with a view to addressing major European or global societal challenges. Joint Programming can be used for carrying out large-scale research components that cannot be implemented merely with national research efforts.

Opens in December 2012

Please note that the call has a non-standard procedure. The detailed guidelines and terms are available on the JPND website at  Proposals can only be submitted via this website. The deadline is 19 March 2013. The call has two stages. The Academy will request the Finnish researchers who have been successful in the international review to submit a separate application in the Academy’s online services. Detailed guidelines will be provided at a later stage.

Finnish applicants shall follow both JPND’s and the Academy’s general application guidelines (incl. guidelines on the acceptable costs of Academy Projects). Applicants who intend to submit a proposal in this call are requested to contact the contact persons at the Academy.
