The Academy of Finland gives a general review of the state and quality of scientific research in the country once during the three-year term of its Research Councils. Research funding has increased substantially since the previous review in 1997. This, the second review describes the development of the Finnish science system in the latter half of the 1990s as well as the quality, output and impact of scientific research.
