Abstract
The project develops a normal looking chair with sensitive sensors, a wireless data link and information processing methods to analyze the ballistocardiogram (BCG) of a patient sitting on the chair for a relatively short time. The system will be proactive in the way that the measurement is started as the person sits on the chair and the results can be output without any pressing buttons if so desired. The purpose of the medical side of this project is to find those medical conditions that are possible to analyze automatically with advanced signal processing methods to be developed in the project. For this purpose a number of EMFi-based BCG recordings are made with normal subjects and patients comparing the results obtained with other instruments in a well-equipped clinical physiology laboratory.
