Strategic research programmes 2015–2017

The 2015 themes were formulated into three SRC funding programmes: Disruptive Technologies and Changing Institutions; A Climate-Neutral and Resource-Scarce Finland; and Equality in Society. The SRC selected 16 multidisciplinary research projects to be included in the three programmes.

Disruptive Technologies and Changing Institutions includes projects that focus on themes such as digitalisation, robotics and new energy forms. In addition, the programme contains a project exploring the best ways to utilise platform ecosystems. The second programme, A Climate-Neutral and Resource-Scarce Finland, focuses on alternatives for sustainable and efficient bioeconomy and food production. Equality in Society, in turn, focuses on a wider range of issues concerning the promotion of equality and the prevention of social exclusion. The programme also supports the sustainable and equal renewal of basic public services and benefit schemes.

A theme that cuts across all three funding programmes is competence-based growth and improving Finland’s competitiveness. The funded projects contribute to sustainable growth, to the promotion of a culture that encourages experimentation, and to strengthening the knowledge base for policy-making.
