The decision dates for the Research Council’s funding decisions are available on the Academy’s website under Funding decisions. Below is a list of the Research Council’s funding principles arranged by type of funding opportunity.
Academy Project funding
The goal is to grant four-year projects 450,000 euros on average.
The maximum amount of funding is 600,000 euros (150,000 euros per year). In addition, the total funding for a consortium is a maximum of 1,000,000 euros (250,000 euros per year).
Subprojects within a consortium will receive a maximum of 400 000 euros in funding (100,000 euros per year).

Funding for research post as Academy Research Fellow
The Research Council supports the Academy Research Fellows it funds by granting them funding for research costs to the tune of 70,000 euros per year over a five-year period.
Academy Research Fellows may also be granted Academy Project funding.
Funding for research post as Postdoctoral Researcher
During the Postdoctoral Researcher term, the maximum monthly salary is 3,800 euros.
Travel costs associated with conference participation and other visits will be accepted to the tune of 9,000 euros per three years.
In addition, if the funding recipient has at least one month of mobility, the Research Council will grant funding for travel costs (Europe €1,000/each starting 6 months, other continents €2,000/each starting 6 months) and a mobility allowance (€1,050/month, or €1,500/month if the researcher has dependants).
Justified research costs will be accepted, but the total costs are usually a maximum of 50,000 euros.
Targeted research funding
The Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering contributes to the implementation of the ICT 2023 programme in collaboration with Tekes. Ten million euros of the Academy of Finland’s budget authority for 2017 will be used to implement the programme.
