NordForsk’s Nordic Bioeconomy Programme

NCoE call: Advancing the bioeconomy transition in the Nordic region 2016–2021

In December 2015, NordForsk opened a call for proposals for Nordic Centres of Excellence within the Nordic Bioeconomy Programme, with water as a common denominator. The call includes all Nordic countries except for Denmark. The call’s total budget is NOK 90 million, or some 9.7 million euros.

There are plans to fund three Nordic Centres of Excellence under the programme. The centres will be funded for a five-year period and launched during the first quarter of 2017. The consortium must involve partner institutions from at least three of the participating countries. The call has two stages; the deadline for pre-proposals was 16 March 2016. The first stage attracted a total of 30 pre-proposals. The deadline for full proposals was 7 September 2016. The Academy of Finland’s Research Council for Biosciences and Environment will co-fund the call with a total of 1.25 million euros.

More information about the call and the programme is available on NordForsk’s website.
