COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) was established in 1971 with a view to promoting European cooperation in science and technology. COST promotes European multinational and interdisciplinary research networks by providing opportunities for collaboration for nationally funded research projects on a European level. COST Actions are launched on the basis of proposals submitted by researchers.
COST activities are steered by the representatives of the Member States. The COST Office assists in project management. The funding for COST project cooperation is channelled via the EU Framework Programme for Research.
Finland's COST activities are coordinated by Business Finland.
