Radiation detectors for health, safety and security RADDESS, 2018-2021

Radiation Detectors for Health, Safety and Security RADDESS is an Academy Programme that will be seeking new initiatives in research into radiation detector technologies and measurement techniques based on such technologies. The research will contribute to measurements of different characteristics, parameters or novel phenomena in, for example, organisms, materials and processes.

The development of novel measurement methods consists of multidisciplinary basic research that effectively combines, for instance, detector technology, materials science, electronics, signal processing, mathematics, data collection systems and systems design. In addition, the research will require an understanding of the objects being measured and of their special characteristics. As regards the application areas of the research, the focus is on applications for medicine and industry. The Academy of Finland expects funding applications that concern the spectral range of both non-ionising and ionising electromagnetic radiation.

Programme memorandum

The programme’s call for applications opened in April 2017.
