New Academy Programmes
The Academy of Finland requests proposals for new Academy Programmes with open online surveys where members of the scientific community can suggest programme topics. Proposals submitted via the surveys are discussed at joint workshops between the Academy’s research councils. The goal of the workshops is to assess, adjust and adapt the proposals to form a select set of proposals that best suit the Academy Programme format. The Board of the Academy decides on the start-up and funding of new Academy Programmes.
The online survey that closed at the end of the year 2016 attracted 256 proposals for new Academy Programmes. The proposals were discussed at a research council workshop in February 2017. The research councils selected eleven proposals as potential programmes. The Academy Board decided on the start-up of new Academy Programmes in June 2017.
