Workshop on mineral resources (10-12 June) materials

25 Jun 2015

The Mineral resources and material substitution (MISU) academy programme organized an international workshop in Helsinki on 10-12 June, 2015. The aim of the workshop was to introduce the forthcoming international call to be opened in the autumn 2015 as well as to serve as a platform for networking. Although the organizing schedule was very tight, the workshop attracted more than 70 attendants. Researchers and funders from Chile, South-Africa and Finland attended the seminar. The first day of the seminar was reserved for presentations with a possibility for networking in a joint poster and buffet session in the evening. The second day included group works and networking. An industrial site visit to a Finnish company Outotec was organized at the end of the second day for the visiting scientists. On day three, a visit was organized to Otaniemi campus area in the city of Espoo, where visitors had the possibility to get familiar with the research activities and facilities of Geological Survey of Finland (GTK), Aalto University, and the VTT Technical Research Center of Finland.

The representatives of the funding organizations visited both the Ministry of Employment and the Economy (TEM) and the Ministry of Education and Culture (OKM) to discuss the possibilities to strengthen and deepen the co-operation.

One of the sessions of the first day was video broadcasted so that a wider audience could be reached (see below).
