The ERA-NET Cofund ForestValue has opened a transnational call for joint European research projects on innovative forest-based bioeconomy. The call aims to contribute to transforming the global economy from a dependence on fossil and non-renewable raw materials to a sustainable bio-based economy. The topics to be funded include sustainable management of multifunctional forests as well as innovative industrial production and processing technologies, products, concepts and services.
The Academy of Finland participates in the call through its BioFuture2025 Academy Programme. In total, the call involves a total of 29 organisations from 19 countries. The other Finnish participants are the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of the Environment and Tekes – the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation.
Consortia must include at least three independent legal entities applying for funding from three different countries with funding agencies participating in the call. The Academy of Finland has earmarked some 900,000 euros for the call. This will be used to fund three-year projects that involve Finnish researchers or research teams. For more information about the call, please see the ForestValue website.
