September call attracted increased number of applications

The Academy of Finland received a total of 3,514 applications within its September 2013 call. The figure is clearly higher than in 2012, when the September call attracted 3,150 applications.
Most applications (1,348) were submitted for Academy Project funding. A total of 149 applications were submitted for funding for research posts as Academy Professor, 15 for funding for the research post as Minna Canth Academy Professor, 568 for funding for research posts as Academy Research Fellow and 1,013 for funding for research posts as Postdoctoral Researcher.
Of the Academy’s four research councils, the Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering received most applications (1,273), followed by the Research Council for Culture and Society (1,012). The Research Council for Biosciences and Environment received 586 applications and the Research Council for Health 544 applications. The table below (link) shows the total number of applications submitted for the Academy’s different funding opportunities.
The funding decisions will be made in April-June 2014. The detailed decision timetables will be available on our website later this year.
