For researchers
The Academy of Finland provides funding for scientific research of the highest quality. This section of the Academy’s website gives information for researchers and reviewers of applications as well as for universities, research institutes and business companies on funding opportunities and funding conditions. These pages also describe how to apply for funding and how the applications are processed as well as provide information on funding decisions and reporting on the use of funding.
If you want to proceed directly to the online services, log in here. The section Academy-funded projects is where you can search for information on projects we have funded. If you have any problems or questions, contact us via the Questions and feedback service.
For key information on the Academy, go to the blue section Academy of Finland. Information on the Academy’s evaluation and expert tasks is available under the heading Science in society.
The Academy offers a wide variety of funding opportunities, designed for different purposes. Funding is provided, for instance, for research projects, research programmes, Centres of Excellence in research, Academy Professorships and Academy Research Fellowships as well as for researcher training and international cooperation. The Academy’s funding opportunities are listed in four different ways: by intended use, by research career stage, targeted at companies and the public sector, as well as in alphabetical order.
Funding is open for application normally in January and October. The Academy’s four Research Councils decide on funding within their own scope of expertise. The Academy Board decides on the national Centres of Excellence in research and on research programmes.
