Academy Research Fellows

Following the entry into force of the new Act on the Academy of Finland, the Academy’s research posts were discontinued. The Academy will, however, continue to provide funding for research posts as Academy Professor and Academy Research Fellow, where the researchers in question are in an employment relationship with the organisations where the research posts are located.

Research posts as Academy Research Fellow offer researchers an opportunity to gain competence for the most demanding research posts or other expert positions after the postdoctoral research stage. The post is intended for independent scientific work in accordance with a set research plan. In addition, the duties of Academy Research Fellows also include supervision of thesis and dissertation writers in their own field and teaching related to their research. Applicants for Academy Research Fellow posts are required to have a PhD degree or have completed the studies required for a PhD.
