Justification for change in decision date (17 Nov 2009)

Contrary to advance information given on the decision timetable, the decisions on applications for general research grants 2009, general research grants 2009/ecological and evolutionary genomics, and Postdoctoral Researcher’s projects 2009 will be made on 17 November 2009.

The Research Council for Biosciences and Environment has decided to examine Finnish ecological and evolutionary genomics research in the context of ESF EUROCORES programme funding. By doing so, the Research Council will be even better placed to support a scientifically high-standard, international and diverse project package in ecological and evolutionary genomics. This will also secure optimal funding distribution among different research teams and thematic areas in the field.

Regrettably, it will not be possible to obtain an overview of the full extent of the matter at hand until October 2009, and as a consequence, the Research Council has elected to postpone the decisions concerned to its meeting on 17 November 2009.
