China and Taiwan

The Academy of Finland has agreements on cooperation with three Chinese organisations: the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), which is a funding organisation.

Cooperation with China covers all scientific disciplines. In addition to researcher mobility and seminars, cooperation is intended to support joint projects. Calls for joint projects are carried out annually and the theme of the call changes in each call. In addition to the Academy of Finland, joint calls have included the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). Joint calls have been carried out in the following fields: in 2001: Finnish Centres of Excellence and Chinese High-Level Research Groups; in 2005: NEURO Research Programme; in 2007: Cross-Cultural Communication; in 2007: Environmental Ecology and Environment Related Energy Research; in 2008: Ubiquitous Computing and Diversity of Communication; in 2009 Signal Processing and Computational Sciences.
