International
The Academy of Finland is committed to promoting the internationalisation of Finnish science and research. It works closely with key funding agencies in Europe and elsewhere with a view to ensuring that researchers in Finland are in the best possible position to carry out high-quality cooperation with colleagues abroad.
The Academy provides funding to support the international cooperation of national Centres of Excellence in research and other cutting-edge research teams and units and to support their efforts to make their research environments more attractive and internationally competitive.
The Academy has various funding mechanisms to support the mobility of researchers. The Academy hopes to encourage increased mobility both from and to Finland at all stages of the research career.
The Academy supports science and research organisations through the payment of international membership fees to these organisations, giving Finnish researchers the opportunity to work at some of the top-tier research centres around the world. In addition, the Academy represents Finland on many international science forums.
