Each year, winning entries, successful schools and active and encouraging teachers are awarded a total of 30,000 euros in prize money. For participating students, success in Viksu can also provide entry to university without having to take entrance exams. In the 2011 competition round, entries are also invited under the Chemistry 2011 theme, as there will be a special prize of 1,000 euros for the best entry in the field of chemistry.

So get going on your competition entry now!

Two categories

The Viksu science competition comprises two equal categories:

-          Students studying for the national matriculation examination

-          Students studying for the International Baccalaureate examination

Prizes are awarded to the 5–7 best entries in both categories.

Do you write scientific papers or essays at school?

Have you taken a class where you have done an independent investigation on a specific topic? If so, you can also use that report and adapt it into your Viksu competition entry. In some schools, the Viksu entry even qualifies as course credit. Consult your teacher for more information.

The Academy’s deadline for entries for the 2011 round of Viksu is Monday 28 November 2011.

The Viksu science competition was launched to raise awareness of science among young people. The objective is to inspire greater interest in science and to provide an opportunity to try out your skills in planning and carrying out a research project. Are you one of the next Viksu winners?
