The state of scientific research in Finland

Since 1997, the Academy of Finland has reviewed the state and quality of scientific research in Finland at three-year intervals. The review process enables the long-term monitoring of different scientific disciplines and provides a basis for science policy.

The review is expected to identify areas of strength and potential areas for development in various disciplines of Finnish science and to prepare recommendations for strategic development in those disciplines. The review may also include a wider study of the development and impact of the Finnish research system or a thematic investigation of the state of scientific research.
