Research Programme on Photonics and Modern Imaging Techniques
Seminar on 18 September 2012 with theme: Look beyond the programme
The Photonics and Modern Imaging Techniques Seminar of 2012 will be held under the theme “Look beyond the Research Programme”. Next year – 2013 – will be the last year with funding from this programme and it is time to start thinking about new fresh ideas and opportunities for Photonics activities.
Date: The Seminar will be a one-day event on Tuesday 18 September 2012. We will tentatively start at 10 a.m., and close by 16.30 the same day.
Programme: The programme of the seminar is under preparation. However, our keynote speakers have been confirmed, addressing complementary aspects of the seminar theme:
Professor Eric Larkins is the Head of the Photonic and Radio Frequency Engineering Group at the University of Nottingham. His research interests include laser diodes (both high-power and high-speed), functional photonic devices, nanophotonics, photonic-electronic convergence.
Mr. Juha Laiho is the Chief Coordinating Officer (CCO) of Photonics Finland, a newly founded collaborative network of the Finnish Photonics research and industrial community.
In addition, we will invite 2-3 projects to present their latest results in contributed talks.
Venue: The Seminar will be held at the Academy of Finland premises, Hakaniemenranta 6, Helsinki.
Posters: In addition to the talks, you are again most welcome to bring your poster to this seminar. We will reserve specific time for discussions at the posters towards the end of the day.
Registration: Registration will open around 15 August. At that time we will send the second circular, which will include more information on this and other practical matters.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the Photonics team at the Academy of Finland. And please feel free to pass this information around to potentially interested colleagues.
