Photonics and modern imaging techniques

Photonics is the study of the generation and detection of light and the control of light propagation. Applications and products based on photonics surround us every day. The themes of the Academy of Finland research programme on Photonics and Modern Imaging Techniques are optical materials and processes, new imaging techniques, and photonics in life sciences. The programme consists of 26 research projects, of which 13 nationally funded, and another 13 joint projects co-funded with partner agencies from Brazil, Japan, and Russia. The programme runs for four years during 2010-2013.

Funding decisions for the 2009 call were made on 14 October 2009. 13 projects with 33 participating research groups were awarded funding, starting 1 January 2010. The list of projects can be found here.
