Value Creation and Capture from Emerging Technologies in Globalizing Innovation Environment
Institute of Strategy and International Business, Helsinki University of Technology, and The Research Institute of the Finnish Economy (ETLA)
The project explores the economics, strategies and organization of value creation and capture from emerging new technologies in a globalizing business environment. The overall research question of the project is: How can companies with small domestic markets successfully create value from emerging technologies and capture their share of the created value in a globalizing business environment?
The project will be carried out by a team of researchers from the Helsinki University of technology, Institute of Strategy and International Business, in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of scholars from The Research Institute of the Finnish Economy (ETLA), as well as U.S. universities. The research team has a strong and rapidly growing track record in producing award winning research and publishing it in leading international journals in our fields.
We expect the project to yield results and publications that will be of practical importance both for innovation policy-makers and firms. Our study addresses issues of strategic importance to small growth-oriented firms drafting strategies for value creation and expansion, as well as large corporations creating new technological platforms. We expect to submit our research for publication in leading management, entrepreneurship, and finance/economics journals.
