NOS-N, Joint Committee of the Nordic Natural Science Research Councils

The Joint Committee of the Nordic Natural Science Research Councils (NOS-N) is a cooperation organ of Nordic research councils funding natural sciences, environmental and engineering research. It is a key organ in promoting and coordinating Nordic research collaboration in the field.

NOS-N has launched a number of projects jointly funded by the Nordic countries, such as the Nordic Programme for Centres of Excellence in Global Change (2003–2007), the Nordic Data Grid project (2003–2005) that contributed to the establishment of the Nordic Data Grid Facility in 2006 as well as the Nordunet3 programme (2006–2009) to promote expertise and R&D in Internet technology and services. 

The Finnish NOS-N representatives are Professor Erkki Oja, Chair of the Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering, and Professor Jouni Häkli, member of the Research Council for Biosciences and Environment, as well as Unit Directors Susan Linko and Laura Raaska from the Academy of Finland.
