NOS-HS, Joint Committee for Nordic Research Councils for the Humanities and the Social Sciences
The Joint Committee for Nordic Research Councils for the Humanities and the Social Sciences (NOS-HS) is a collaborating organ of Nordic research councils with the aim of promoting cooperation and research policy debate among the research councils and developing research collaboration of the Nordic countries. The annual budget of NOS-HS is about 2.5 million euros. NOP-HS, a joint board for the purpose of allocating grants to Nordic scientific periodicals, is a sub-board to NOS-HS.
In 2010–2012, the Finnish members are Professor Jan-Ola Östman of the Academy of Finland’s Research Council for Culture and Society, and Unit Director Liisa Hakamies-Blomqvist. Senior Science Adviser Päivi Messo-Lindén serves as the administrative contact person.
NOS-HS funds joint Nordic research projects (NORDCORPS) and exploratory workshops. In 2012, NOS-HS will fund a NORDCORPS call. For more information see www.nos-nop.org.
The NOS-HS secretariat rotates among the Nordic countries. The secretariat is in Oslo as of 2011.
