Finnish CoE in Inverse Problems

An inverse problem is defined as a problem of recovering information from indirect, incomplete or noisy observations by means of mathematical models. Inverse problems is one of the most important and topical fields of applied mathematics. The Finnish Centre of Excellence in Inverse Problems represents the leading inverse problems research unit in the world, bringing together several internationally highly respected groups in Finland. The problem field is exceptionally interdisciplinary both in theoretical methods and practical applications. The CoE provides new applications for example in medical imaging, space studies and industrial material testing. It consists of five research groups.
