CoE in Signal Processing

The Centre of Excellence in Signal Processing specialises in several modern areas of signal processing. It is involved in developing fundamental theories and efficient algorithms for the translation of theories and models into usable tools for real world applications. The study of fundamentals will be extended into two rapidly developing areas: multimedia and the modelling of biological systems. Signal processing provides a way to create and improve techniques and tools for the analysis of measurement data, natural communication between humans and a deeper understanding of the dynamic processes of living organisms and systems. Through its research the CoE is also intimately involved in industrial and social development in Finland. The CoE is presently a Centre of Excellence in Research nominated by the Academy of Finland for the 2000-2005 period.
