CoE in Process Chemistry

Based at the Åbo Akademi University, the Centre of Excellence in Process Chemistry consists of four research groups. At the foundation and core of the CoE's work are its unique analytical capabilities, experimental laboratory techniques, advanced chemical engineering models and a good understanding of the technical state and challenges of modern industrial processes. The Centre of Excellence in Process Chemistry will make new research openings at the beginning of 2006. Among other things, researchers at the CoE will study the potential of ionic liquids in process chemical applications. New functions will also be planned for chemicals and fibres in papermaking, and a major interdisciplinary programme will be launched on metals in wood and biomasses. The CoE is presently a Centre of Excellence in Research nominated by the Academy of Finland for the 2000-2005 period.
