CoE in Computational Nanoscience

The Centre of Excellence in Computational Nanoscience consists of six research groups based at the HUT Physics Laboratory. Specialising in theoretical and computational research on nanoscience materials, structures and components, their major research interests include the electronic properties of materials and nanostructures, the quantum physics of multiple-particle phenomena, and the nanostructures of surfaces and interfaces. Research at the CoE is broadly based and covers phenomena that vary in size from the atom level to the macro world. As well as engaging in research the CoE produces various practical applications. The CoE is presently a Centre of Excellence in Research nominated by the Academy of Finland for the 2000-2005 period.
