Scientific evaluation of applications
Full applications are reviewed by expert panels approved by a sub-committee. The expert panel is composed of esteemed, mainly foreign, researchers in the field. If required, statements by individual experts may also be requested. The expert panels prepare one joint written statement for each application (see Proposal evaluation form for research programmes). In research programmes, the Academy’s general evaluation criteria for projects are applied in the scientific evaluation of applications competing for Academy funding; these criteria will be supplemented in accordance with programme-specific objectives. The other funding agencies of the programme may also have their own evaluation criteria.
