Public description of project
If funding is granted for a project, the Academy will publish a public project description on its website, drafted by the applicant in connection with the application. Finnish or Swedish-speaking applicants write their descriptions in Finnish or Swedish in the text field indicated for this purpose on the online application form. All applicants shall also write a project description in English.
The public project description is a means for the Academy and researchers to disseminate information on Academy-funded research. Consequently, it is important that the project description is as clear and readable to the general public as possible.
The project description cannot exceed 1,000 characters.
The project description should cover the following information:
- The title of the research project and the main research question
- The material used for the research and the research method on a general level (interviews, statistical data, archive materials or similar)
- The duration of the research, information on where it is conducted and how big the research team is
- The significance of the research and its objectives
- Any other interesting aspects
- If possible, a link to the researcher’s home page, containing more information
- If possible, a reference to a publication that is readily available at public libraries or on the Internet.
The Academy will not edit public project descriptions, and consequently applicants are responsible for the content, clarity and style of their project descriptions.
