Mobility

Applications for mobility grants for research at Indian universities and research institutes can be submitted in September. The Academy of Finland has funded researcher mobility with the Indian Department of Biotechnology (DBT) since 2006. The Academy has agreements of cooperation with the following Indian research funding organisations:

Department of Biotechnology (DBT), grants

  • intended for preparation of joint research projects, collaboration between centres of excellence and thematic joint research programmes at Indian universities and research institutes in the following fields:
    - Advanced Biotechnology: Gene Therapy, Structural and Functional Biology with relation to Genomics and Proteomics
    - Medical Biotechnology: Drug Development including Vaccines, Diagnostics
    - Food Biotechnology: Nutraceuticals
    - Agriculture Biotechnology: Transgenics and Agrobiotechnics
    - Environment Biotechnology: Bioremediation  

Funding is available for the following purposes:

  1. Grants for biotechnology research at Indian universities and research institutes

  2. Research grants for inviting Indian researchers of biotechnology to Finland

  • Researchers to be invited are required to have earned a doctoral degree.
  • Maximum duration of visit is one year
  • Covers round-trip costs from India to Finland, living costs in Finland and travel costs in Finland related to the scientific programme of the visit
  • Grant amounts 2011 and 2012  
  • Special instructions: Invitation money

Department of Science and Technology (DST), grants

  • intended for preparation of joint research projects, collaboration between centres of excellence and thematic joint research programmes at Indian universities and research institutes
  • recommended duration of grant is 21 days (may be 7–90 days)
  • Applicants are required to have earned a higher academic degree.
  • Applicants must take out sickness insurance for the grant period.
  • The Academy of Finland covers the applicant’s travel costs and the DST covers accommodation and a grant.
  • Special instructions: Mobility grant

Research grants for inviting Indian researchers of bioinformatics and related biosciences to Finland

  • Researchers to be invited are required to have earned a doctoral degree.
  • The discipline of the researcher to be invited shall be bioinformatics or related biosciences.
  • maximum duration of visit is one year
  • covers round-trip costs from India to Finland, living costs in Finland and travel costs in Finland related to the scientific programme of the visit
  • Grant amounts 2011 and 2012 
  • Special instructions: Invitation money
